试验花园
我从小就喜欢园艺。
我的第一套公寓里就摆满了室内植物，20 世纪 70 年代我和丈夫搬到澳大利亚后，我还专门做了室内植物销售的生意。
我们回到美国后，生活暂时受到了影响，我很少有时间去园艺，直到几年前我女儿上大学。 但是，我的热情又回来了。
去年，我在前面的两个大花坛里进行了人工翻耕，现在花坛里种上了多年生植物、玫瑰和球茎花卉，美不胜收。
我的后院还有一个很大的菜园，但（任何一个好园丁都知道）总是有更多的草坪需要挖掉，换成花坛！
这个花园主要种植多年生植物、灌木、球茎植物和一些阴生植物，我将在本网站上介绍这些植物。
我选择了后院沿围墙边的一块特定区域，因为这里既有阳光充足的地方，也有部分遮阳的地方，还有主要遮阳的地方。
这个测试花园的灵感来自两个方面：一个是《花园之门》杂志上的一个美妙的绿荫花园，我可以在这个地方看到它。
另一个原因是我对这个网站的热爱，以及与读者分享我的园艺信息的愿望。 
这是杂志上的 "绿荫花园 "照片。 我们家有一个棚屋和一棵大玉兰树。 我的想法是让小路绕过玉兰树，通向树后的棚屋。
试验花园还在建设之中。 我怀疑今年能否完工，因为很快就会太热了，不适合在室外挖土。 不过，我已经有了一个良好的开端。
去年完成了一部分（约 6 英尺宽，60 英尺长），上周末又翻耕了 10 英尺左右的土地，我正在清除草皮和杂草。
要达到这一点，我还有很长的路要走，而且不会像现在这样，因为我所在的很多地区都是阳光充足的。
我可以在玉兰树下种植玉簪，还可以在花园最阴暗的地方种植一些其他遮阴植物。
这是目前已完成的部分：它是一大片长长的空地，中间只有一个鸟澡盆。
上周末用机器翻耕了这片区域，今天我又人工翻耕并清除了第二张照片中区域的杂草。

2013 年 5 月 18 日：完成了整个区域的人工翻耕，并用堆肥改良了土壤。 准备种植。
我在花坛里种下的第一批植物是一株凤仙花和一大丛鸢尾花。 这两株花都种在前花坛里，离我的 "淘汰玫瑰 "太近了，所以我把它们挖出来移到了后花坛。
鸢尾花已经开花了，但明年春天就会好起来。 羊蹄甲不喜欢搬家，所以今年可能会受影响，但明年春天也会好起来。
