我决定先让洋葱生根，把它在水里悬浮几天，以促进根系生长。 
每隔几天换一次水，根系就会开始生长。 这可能会在一周内发生，这取决于一年中的时间，我的花只用了大约 4 天！
露出来的最白的根就是新根。
看到它们，我就知道洋葱现在是有生命的了！ 
我选择了一个 8 英寸的花盆，这样它就足够容纳已经长得很大的根系。 在花盆底部添加一些松树皮屑，以利排水。 
在花盆中装入排水性良好的轻质盆栽土壤。 我选择了非常轻质的 Miracle Grow 湿度控制盆栽混合土。
浇透水，然后在土壤中挖出一个与洋葱差不多大小的凹坑，深度要足够让洋葱根部扎入。

新植株需要一些时间来恢复，修剪叶片可以减轻新植株的生长压力。

注意 鳞茎：成熟的鳞茎需要相当长的时间才能形成，当茎秆开始变黄并倾斜时，就说明鳞茎成熟了，这可能需要 90 到 120 天。
